Light a Life Memorial & Service of Remembrance December 3rd

We’re pleased to announce the return of the annual Light a Life Memorial & Service of Remembrance, streamed live on Facebook on Saturday, December 3, at 6:00 PM. This event serves as a remembrance for all members of our community who have lost a loved one. Even if your loved one didn’t take advantage of hospice services, this event is for you. We invite all community members to participate.

Towers with loved one’s names will be located at the Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care office at 20 W. Fairmount Ave in Lakewood.

Each year CHPC lights our Memorial Tree and assembles light towers which include the names of those who passed this year. The holiday season can be especially hard for those grieving the loss of a family member, and this event strives to show that no one is alone in their grief. Digital LAL programs will be available on this page on the day of the event.

We invite everyone to participate. Anyone can memorialize a loved one and include their name if they purchase an ornament. In addition, you can also submit a name on the Light a Life event page. CHPC is once again partnering with and supporting local merchant, John’s Wood, who will be producing memorial butterfly ornaments for 2022. John’s Wood is based in Ashville, NY and specializes in wood cut decorations. This year’s design is a 2-layer, wood cut and hand-painted butterfly ornament, which will cost $25. A larger, 10-layer butterfly decoration is also available for $150. Place your ornament orders by November 28th to include your loved one’s name in the Memorial Program and Light Towers.

Butterfly Ornaments, and larger Butterfly Decorations, made by John’s Wood in Asheville, NY, can be purchased online.
