Hospice care in Chautauqua County was founded by volunteers and they remain an important part of our care team to this day. Trained volunteers provide valuable assistance, support and companionship in our hospice care program. Our volunteers are people of all ages and backgrounds who share an extraordinary capacity to empathize with and attend to the needs of others. We’re always looking for volunteers.
What is palliative care?
Palliative care is comfort care intended to keep patients comfortable, in control and out of the hospital. Unlike hospice care, palliative care is appropriate for individuals who are pursuing curative treatment. In this video our medical director, Dr. Thomas Putnam, and three of our patients share their insights with our community-based palliative care program to help you understand if it might be right for you.
Dispose of unused and unneeded medications
CHPC is a proud collaborator with HOPE Chautauqua, a substance abuse prevention coalition. HOPE Chautauqua, CHPC and other collaborators are working to promote the disposal of unwanted and unused medications to prevent them from being diverted and abused. Take It To The Box, a network of secure and confidential drug disposal sites, is an important outgrowth of the collaboration.
The Shred Center will again be offering shredding services on Earth Day, Monday, April 22nd between 10AM and 2PM to benefit Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care.
