Service of Remembrance and Butterfly Release
June 6 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pmFree
This year’s butterfly art was created by Gracie Johnson, grade 9, Forestville High School.
We invite all residents of Chautauqua County whose loved one or friend has passed away to join us for our annual Service of Remembrance and Memorial Butterfly Release.
In recognition of the need to maintain social distance, this year’s event will be streamed live on the CHPC Facebook page and butterflies will be available to release privately.
The memorialized will be listed on our Bereavement Care web page and in the program booklet, which will be available for download. The listing will contain all those who have passed under our care, as well as any community members memorialized by a butterfly purchase. If you would like your loved one memorialized but do not wish to purchase a butterfly, call the CHPC Bereavement Department at (716) 338-0033, ext. 212.
To participate in our Service of Remembrance, just visit our Facebook page Saturday, June 6 at 1pm to stream the live program. A recording of the service will be available after the service on our Facebook and web pages. No reservation is necessary if you just wish to view the live event.
The deadline for purchasing butterflies has passed. Those who have made purchases of butterflies should pick them up Saturday, June 6, between 10AM-12PM at one of our two office locations:
Save the date… Join us for our Light A Life Service of Remembrance and Tree Lighting Ceremony on
Saturday, November 28, 2020.
Through the generosity of members of our community, Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care is able to care for patients’ physical, emotional and spiritual needs at any given time. Thank you to all … you are our hospice heroes.
Interested in organizing a fundraiser for CHPC? We’ve established some event guidelines that will help make sure your event is a success.
Don’t Know Your Partner Charity Bowling Tournament
The Chautauqua Lake Memorial VFW Post 8647 organizes a bowling tournament every winter. Each bowler is matched with a partner who isn’t announced until the scores are tallied to determine the winners. The tournament began in 2006 and continues to be a valuable source of support (and fun).
Mel Perks Memorial Motorcycle Run
After the passing of their friend on hospice care in 2012, Al and Patty Sutter organized this event to help provide financial support to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care. Hundreds of motorcyclists participate in the event, which includes live music, a cookout and an auction. The event is sponsored by Levant Motors and The Pad.
Jack Carlson Memorial Lawn Mower Poker Run
A dedicated group of volunteers from the American Legion Post 493 of Mayville, New York organize this community event in memory of Jack Carlson. Jack rode his lawnmower to the Legion whenever he visited. Participants throughout the community depart the Legion on tractors and visit watering holes to then return for raffles, auctions, camaraderie and great food.
Circulus Golf Tournament
Since 2008, the Circulus Golf Tournament has provided valuable support to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care. Five dedicated volunteers organize this event every year to benefit the organization. Overall, the tournament has generated more than $50,000 in net proceeds.
Hoops for Hospice
Falconer Girls Basketball give back during this night of fun at one of their season basketball games. In addition to a great game and team spirit, raffles take place throughout the evening as well as a collection of donations.
Earth Day Shredding Event
Each year, Monica and Ron Mazany host an Earth Day fundraiser at the Shred Center in Jamestown. New and old customers are encouraged to donate to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care instead of paying them for their Earth Day shredding!
Westfield Haunted Mill
When Ed Slate converts his building to the “Haunted Mill,” some ghoulish fun always results. The event runs during the weekends in September and October and benefits Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care.
BLB Chicken Barbecue
Employees from the Bahgat & Laurito-Bahgat CPA firm and the BLB Insurance Agency, Inc. of Fredonia raise funds for Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care by serving barbecue chicken dinners. Approximately 350 dinners are served thanks to their hard work and dedication to the cause.
Moniuszko Social Club
The Moniuszko Social Club donates funds from their fundraising efforts to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care. The club has donated to Hospice for the past seven years.
